Apologies to the Strapping Fieldhands for using their work, but I've probably never had an original thought, besides there's something of a story to it all...
During the walk to the daily grind along four lanes of venomous commuters hurling themselves inside tons of steel towards places they didn't want to be, I had seen squatters emerging from a wooded stretch of creek all summer long, using the park washroom and heading off to work at the Texaco. I ventured in, avoiding the asphalt and airborne asphyxiants, and lo! tucked in against the evil highway a peaceful garden. Bob Malloy's crooning voice instantly sounded in my head, '...down in the gar-den of earthly delights'. So the place had a name and then, later, I recorded some songs about it, taking us full-circle, hence, The Garden Of Earthly Delights... The original is a gem, see if you can get your ears on it, it was on the album Gobs On The Midway, widely released in 1996 by Siltbreeze Records as SB-53. |
